BUFFALO SUBURBAN CHRISTIAN ACADEMY
December 16, 2011
Christmas Program at Buffalo Suburban SDA – this Saturday! Students need to meet Mr. & Mrs. Maloon by 10:30 AM so that they can get dressed for the program. Bring family and friends for this special performance. We will have a DVD of pictures and the performance available on Dec. 22 for $10. You can also stream on www.sonlightcafe.org.
Pictures Retaken will be returned in 4 weeks.
Language Test Taken
Students in grades 3 through 8 just took a new test to evaluate writing ability. Instead of the out-of-date ELA tests, the Atlantic Union has made available to us a new company, which tests writing skills. The tests were finished this week, and we should see the results by the 2nd quarter parent-teacher conferences.

Light-Skill of the Week: Grace
This past week the spotlighted light skill was grace – good appropriate topic this time of year. Please encourage your child to allow the Holy Spirit to live in them so that they may exude this trait.
Help and Things We Need
School Calendar Items:
Mrs. Maloon’s Class
Continue to watch for notices from Anthology of Poetry for Young Americans. If your child’s poem is selected, the request for permission to print should come soon. We are still watching for these envelopes!
Christmas Program—Our performance at Emmanuel Temple Church on Sabbath, Dec. 10 blessed many people. Our second performance is at Buffalo Suburban Church tomorrow Sabbath, Dec. 17. Please refer to email for last week’s performance for what children should wear. Lightweight items are best.
We will also perform for Vine Croft Nursing Home on Wednesday, December 21. You are welcome to come help or just come to watch and be blessed!
Salty Christian Popcorn Company—News on The Salty Christian Popcorn Company is that we were able to pay off our investors on time, and make a profit of just over $20.00. The students brainstormed, discussed, and then voted to purchase sharing tracts about Jesus and His great love for us with the profits. We are expecting the tracts before Christmas break. I will be sending each student home with a package that you can use as the Holy Spirit moves. We also will have some at school to use on field trips and for visitors. Thanks to everyone who supported this effort. It was truly worthwhile educationally and spiritually for all. J
Classroom Christmas Party—Our class will be enjoying a Christmas party on Thursday, Dec. 22. We will have a gift exchange and enjoy snacks and games. Boys will bring a $5.00 gift for a boy and girls a $5.00 gift for a girl. If you would like to send in a snack, that would be appreciated! Since the holidays are filled with treats, fresh fruit, muffins, and other healthy options are encouraged.
Field Trip—On Tuesday, Dec. 20, our class will be going on a trip to the Herschell Carousel Factory Museum in N. Tonawanda. I am looking for chaperones. Cost per student will be $5.00. Please let me know if you are available.
