Poetry Contest—Each year BSCA enters student work to the Anthology of Poetry for Young Americans publishing contest. This year lower grades sent in cinquains and diamonte poems. If chosen for publication, you will receive a letter in the mail from Anthology of Poetry for Young Americans requesting permission to print your child’s poem. If you grant permission, your child’s poem will be published in a book of poetry written by young people.
I have a number of these books from past years in my classroom. It is quite an honor to be published, and your children are working hard and doing a great job. If selected, the request for permission to print will come in November or December. Be watching for this envelope!
Christmas ProgramWe have begun working in earnest on the Christmas program. We will feature our chimes choir and a Christmas musical production.  Our first performance will be for Emmanuel Temple Church on Sabbath, Dec. 10. Our second performance will be for Buffalo Suburban Church on Sabbath, Dec. 17. We will also perform for Vine Croft Nursing Home on Wednesday, December 21.
Science—In science this week we learned more about dinosaurs. Did you know that a Tyrannosaurus Rex was fossilized with the remains of a triceratops in its stomach? These two dinosaurs are about the same size—10,00 to 14,000 pounds. The T. Rex is known to have hunted dinosaurs larger than itself. We also learned that by studying fossilized bones, paleontologists believe that dinosaurs lived very violent lives. Our class talked about how happy we are that God didn’t include the dinosaurs on the ark!
Salty Christian Popcorn CompanyThis week the Salty Christian Popcorn Company was able to pay off its investors! We hope to make a profit next week. J
Classroom Christmas Party—Our class will be enjoying a Christmas party on Thursday, Dec. 22. We will have a gift exchange and enjoy snacks and games. Boys will bring a $5.00 gift for a boy and girls a $5.00 gift for a girl.  If you would like to send in a snack, that would be appreciated! Since the holidays are filled with treats, fresh fruit, muffins, and other healthy options are encouraged.
Field Trip—On Tuesday, Dec. 20, our class will be going on a trip to the Herschell Carousel Factory Museum in N. Tonawanda. I am looking for chaperones. Cost per student  will be $5.00.
